Flag Signals

Union start of race flag Union flag used to start race in event of signal light failure.
Green all clear flag Road clear — used to indicate start of formation up lap and the end of a yellow flagged section.
Yellow danger flag Danger — slow down and be prepared to stop, no overtaking.
Waved: Imminent danger; Static: shown at the preceding marshal’s post.
Slippery surface flag Slippery surface.
Waved: imminent danger; Static: shown at the preceding marshal’s post.
Red cease racing flag Cease racing and proceed at reduced speed to pits or startline.
Blue overtaking flag Waved: Another competitor is trying to overtake.
Static: Another competitor is following close behind.
Black and white driver warning flag Displayed with competitor’s number. Driver warning.
Black and orange mechanical failure flag Displayed with competitor’s number. Driver being warned of mechanical failure.
Black disqualified flag Displayed with competitor’s number. Driver to report to Clerk of the Course.
White slow moving car flag Service car or slow moving vehicle ahead.
Checkered end of race flag End of race or practice.
